Hurricane news & facts for cruising

I thought it would be good to highlight facts on worldwide hurricane seasons and how some tips on how to get the best from your cruise at this time:

Places to avoid hurricanes are Alaska/Canada & New England or a Med Cruise

Northeast Pacific Season runs from May through to October (this would effect Mexican Riviera Cruises)

Asia can experience cyclones (same as hurricanes) all year round

Australia cyclone season runs from October to May

Now for the most popular hurricane area..... Caribbean Cruising

These occur within a 6 month window, with peak months for the following:

Eastern Caribbean & USA East Coast - August to September
Western Caribbean - August to November

My top tip....... Choose Southern Caribbean (the more Southern the better) such as Aruba/Bonaire/Curacao/Tobago to name but a few

If you do decide to cruise during this time just remember that ships can outrun storms as they can travel at upto 22 knots!!!! If a storm is due to hit the ship will simply re-route to a different destination.

That's all for now...... Should you wish to check out some of our great deals visit www.cruiseclubuk.com or call me LAURA on 01617982558

Gratuities explained on board cruise ships

P&O have recently announced increased gratuity charges across its seven ship fleet....

From £3.50 per day to £3.95 (not too bad hey)

For those new to cruising or not sure how the whole gratuities work:

Most cruise companies add them to your on board account automatically and customers are advised to pay at the end of their cruise.

Other cruise lines such as Royal Caribbean/Celebrity Cruises give you the option to pre pay in advance which I would always recommend as you have then pre budgeted for your cruise and no need to worry when your on board.

Tbh..... most people like to tip staff directly on board and opt out of pre paying.... in doing this you need to be aware that service staff you don't see on a daily basis don't get anything! In pre paying it makes it fair for all service staff on board

Calling all CRUISE NITE OWLS

So we read & hear about how great cruises are and what there is to do on board during the day...But what about 'nite owls'...

Ive put together a list of who and why, so get reading:

Norwegian Cruise Lines do love amazing nightlife

Ice bar @ eight degrees below zero (something different)

Spice H 2 O the open air night club, where the pool becomes a dance floor to take you late into the night

Lots of other entertainment on board their choice of ships, including Bliss nightclub, Pub & Sports Bar O'Sheehan's which shows daily sporting events which draws an amazing crowd day or night!

Bar 21 is another late one due to the all night casino on board
